Love Letters to Earth Odyssey

To celebrate our 20th anniversary in business, our patrons have shared their personal experiences of how Earth Odyssey has had a positive impact on their lives. Read on to feel inspired! "In late 2014 I went through a really rough end to a romantic relationship.  My trip to New Orleans had already been paid for with credit card points, so there was no sense in cancelling the trip.  While I was enjoying the sights, food, and sounds (shout out to Tanya & Dorise who played under my window every day), I stumbled upon Earth Odyssey.  Originally, I was just looking at the jewelry, but then I noticed that readings were offered.  I signed up for a Tarot Card reading.  It was one of the most insightful, eye-opening, and incredible experiences.  It helped to heal me, give me hope, and inspire me to focus on the future.  10-years later, I still read your emails avidly.  Whenever I go to New Orleans, I make a point to stop in your shop.  Thank you for all you do.  I can't wait until my next visit,"

"I discovered this store while on a trip to New Orleans. Not only is the atmosphere wonderful but the energy is strong and the employees are so kind and helpful!  I make sure every time i visit to pick up something for me and my two daughters.  Hands down best shop in New Orleans. I will see you when I come to visit this Christmas."

"It was 2013 and I was on my first business trip to NOLA. I was traveling alone, and really didn't have any particular plans. I hate to say it, but at that time the environment felt safe enough for me to walk alone, even in the evening, so I was able to have dinner and go to a Preservation Hall concert unaccompanied. It was on one of the these walkabouts that I encountered Earth Odyssey.  I was feeling slightly adrift, but when I entered the shop the positive energy struck me immediately. It was lovely, I bought a pair of mystic topaz earrings, that I still wear to this day. I have been back to NOLA and Earth Odessey four times since. The last time was in June of this year. Each time I felt that same positive energy from both the shop itself, as well as the people who work there. On one of those trips, I encountered Joy sweeping the front of the shop and told her how much I loved getting the newsletter. She replied that she was so happy to hear it because she said, "I send them out into the world and you never know where they go." They go to appreciative folks like me. Even as I write this I am wearing a jade bracelet that I purchased on my last visit. The memories are very happy ones."

"I’ll never forget February 2018 when I first met Alta.  I was dealing with a terrible breakup and she helped me see and better understand my future.  She assured me that one day I’ll get married and she’d love to be invited to the wedding.  Fast forward a few years and Earth Odyssey is still my favorite crystal shop and I continue to purchase and have shipped up to Ohio many of your treasures.  I just noticed Alta’s Moldavite pendant, which I plan to purchase today!  Although she’s no longer with us on earth, I will treasure this gem she used to own! "

"The 1st time I ever walked into the shop I knew it was my favorite little spot in New Orleans! The staff was so friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I usually spend at least an hour just taking everything in. I also love getting readings! Great little space in the back of the shop. I always feel energized when leaving (with my newest goodies). Looking forward to my next visit!  Ricky! He is such a pleasure to visit with, and always makes me feel welcome."

"Earth Odyssey is the first crystal shop I ever visited when I moved to New Orleans! I missed my crystal shop from my hometown and wasn’t sure I was going to find another where I felt so comfortable and got such great deals. The Earth Odyssey employees have always been so welcoming, kind, and knowledgeable! 4 years later it is still my favorite NOLA crystal shop!"

"I first found myself at Earth Odyssey during one of my many Decembers spent in NOLA. While I am a native of Jackson, Mississippi, my parents and I have spent Christmas in the French Quarter every year since I was a baby, so I have always had a connection with the area even without living there! During this particular year, the winter of when I was only 12 or 13, my family was walking along Chartres and just happened to walk past Earth Odyssey, and I immediately found myself enamored by what I was seeing through the door.

I was raised in a very non-religious household. My mother's beliefs are still quite vague to me to this day, as she never discusses it at all, and my father has expressed his dislike for religion and spirituality on a few occasions. As a result, I had never experienced what it was like to feel the energy of a sacred, spiritual space- of any variety.

That day, I found it at Earth Odyssey. I entered the building and immediately just experienced this sensation unlike anything I had felt before. The building felt so warm - and that wasn't only because of the freezing winter temp outside- rather, it had this inherently inviting, comfortable vibration that had been so unfamiliar to me. It was there at Earth Odyssey that I found myself introduced to the spiritual world for the very first time. I bought my first crystals that day, and set forth on my own personal journey of reading and learning, acquiring knowledge to hone my craft and form the connections with the natural world that I didn't even know I had been missing out on. The staff were so willing to help and introduce me to these concepts and ideas that were completely foreign.

And every year after that in which I returned to New Orleans for the holidays, I returned to Earth Odyssey as well, and found myself enamored all over again by the magick of that space. Earth Odyssey, for me, was my introduction to the spiritual world, an introduction I may never have had the blessing of receiving otherwise- Mississippi is a very conservative space. It is very rare to find the kinder ideals of the world there, but I was lucky enough to stumble into them elsewhere. I haven't been to NOLA in a few years now, but am finally coming back again this upcoming December, and I cannot wait to go to Earth Odyssey again and revisit the place where my spiritual journey, which is now a very large part of my life,"

"I began sharing my love of crystals with my children from an early age. We are from Northeast Mississippi, but we come to Nola regularly and have began many family traditions here. One of which includes coming to Earth Odyssey during every trip. It is such a treat to come in and pick out a new piece with all 3 of my daughters. I also enjoy ordering Christmas gifts from your online store to place in their stockings. As an individual with a childhood filled with hardships, I use crystals as a method of healing. They have helped me in conjunction with other practices to get through some really hard times. Through our Earth Odyssey trips, I can share that same practice with my children. Thank you for your smiling faces and offers to help everytime we come through those doors. "

"Joy's Odyssey has been a destination visit for 10+years. My Mom used to make jewelry after Dad died and she held our family together with that skill. She has since passed away, but Joy's Odyssey was our "go-to" whenever we visited New Orleans and it continues to be mine. I have purchase many items from this store and have loved every one of them. Thank you!"

"A few years ago was the first time I came in. The only inviting crystal shop I could find nearby was Earth Odyssey, which to this day remains my favorite. I was on the hunt for a first deck of tarot cards for my friend and nothing other places had seemed quite right. What should’ve been a single item purchase ended up being an hour plus long visit with lots of chatting and a long receipt. The deck I purchased could not have been more perfect and she now has the High Priestess card tattooed on her thigh. Earth Odyssey is my go to for intentional gifts. From the tarot cards to the matching necklaces I purchased for my mom and I, no one is ever disappointed."

"Lafayette native here! Started going to earth odyssey as a young teenager and it has become a tradition to go every time I’m in Nola! At fourteen i bought an amethyst necklace from the shop that I kept on me for over ten years, and anytime my dad was in the city without me he always came back with a new crystal for me!

The shop introduced me to my love of crystals, magic, and the awesome community and history of such a magical city. Over time, the shop has always shown how great it is to be part of your community and all the small ways to come together. Even now, living abroad, I look forward to my monthly newsletter!

All the love from France!

Liv Always look forward to my card reading from Carol in the newsletter! I make sure to share them with my Friends as needed"

"Earth Odyssey has become a sanctuary for me, a place where the noise of the world fades, and I reconnect with myself on a deeper level. As an esthetician, I am always in the practice of bringing out the best in others, focusing on beauty, energy, and healing. But at Earth Odyssey, the focus shifts inward. The crystals, minerals, and metaphysical items offer more than just aesthetic beauty—they resonate with an energy that has helped me ground and center myself.

I first wandered into the shop on a whim, curious but unsure of what I would find. At that point, I had been looking for something more—a way to bring balance to my personal life and an added layer of depth to my work. The moment I stepped inside, the atmosphere felt like an embrace, filled with a quiet, calming energy. The staff's knowledge about each crystal's properties intrigued me, and I found myself learning how to incorporate their healing qualities into my own life and even subtly into my practice, allowing me to bring a new level of healing into my treatments.

In many ways, Earth Odyssey has grounded me, showing me how to care for my own energy while continuing to give to others. It has become a cornerstone in my journey of self-care and has subtly shaped how I approach my life, both personally and professionally."
