The Hanged Man

The Hanged Man symbolizes things being put on hold, standstills, stalled advancement, inconvenient pauses in momentum, and delayed plans that hinder your aspirations. It’s like the universe giving you an opportunity to invert your perspective and consider how it might even be beneficial to have a chance to pause, rest, recalibrate, and not only see other angles of a situation, but be able to view it more objectively, before having to move forward and make decisions. The Deviant Moon Tarot deck (borderless edition) by Patrick Valenza is being used to explore the symbols

Some important symbols to note include:

  • Pocket-watch and character’s hourglass-shaped torso: notion of time; message that you can’t hang there in limbo forever, but you can hang (and might even be best served by hanging) there suspended for now

  • Waning Moon: certain things may be going away from your life or may need to be given up in order for you to proceed

  • Crossed leg: indecision

Hanged Man Correspondences:

Color: Dark Green

Planet: Neptune, which rules over Pisces

Stone: Blue Lace Agate
